Art X Science

Read this inspiring letter to artists (1999).

To those who think music does not interest to science, discover interesting mathematical experiments in the magic world of sound. There is also an important site about physical experiments in violin and wind acoustics with a useful guide to violin makers!

Musicians have already been using fractal structures 500 years before mathematicians. Look how contemporary composers are using fractals in order to create new things on computer. And a music professor has a great site with 5 lectures about composition, talking from harmony to serial music.

Scientists love art! Learn about Chaos, the "New Science". This site has lot of links, including fractal music.

The chinese scientists found the eldest flutes, about 5000 years old! They published this article in "Nature", and recorded one of such flutes. It is exciting to listen the original scale which has generated the whole oriental music culture!
